A Butterfly Thank You

This card was made using another die that I got at the Craft Fair/Convention in Arlington.  The place was packed full of all sorts of goodies but this one called to me the most.  Never thought I would say it but I think I'm in love with butterflies.  For the most part the butterflies have to call to me, so I don't just any old butterfly it has to have some characteristics that fit into my world of butterflies.  This card was made in Thanks to the Headquarters of work and their understanding about me being sick and needing time off to recuperate.  I never thought that I would be able to do something so cool, but I must say it is pretty dang cool.  I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this die.  I have looked for more dies by this maker but I can't seem to find the cellophane bag that it came in to look at their site and see what else they had/have in the realm of butterflies.

This card was all about layers.  I think there were at least three layers on the front of the card and I think the same amount on the inside they just didn't "pop" off the page like the other ones did.  For the outside, I used multiple paper stacks to give it the contrast that I wanted.  After three layers (lime green, teal with black diamonds and plain white card stock) I then die cut the butterfly and also cut out of my Silhouette the "Thanks" quote on the front.  The inside was much a repeat of the outside but I instead used black (my fav color for contrast) plain teal and white card stock with a quote from my quote book saying thanks.

Once complete it went to work headquarters and I was a happy camper of the over all look the card gave.  I think it was one of my more sophisticated cards that I have made in a long time, or maybe it is the butterfly that I am in love with.  I have used this butterfly in other cards but this particular one seems to call to me just a bit more.

Graduation Congratulations

So I was requested to make a card for a male nephew for a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) when I went to the hospital last year.  The PCA was very impressed with the cards that I had made on the cards that  I on the laptop that I had at that time.

The paper that I used was Studio G paper for the balloon and I hand drew the basket and used just plain brown cardstock.  I got a cloud die at the convention that I always go to with Julie bird and hadn't had the reason to use it in such a way that it would sort of make the card pop; and I think it did just that and I can't wait to use it again.  I used plain sky blue and orange to coordinate with the colors of the cardstock to coordinate with the paper that I used as the balloon as the hot air balloon.  I then used a brown and white striped ribbon to cover the break between the two colors of cardstock.  I found a color of ink and stamped  the Congratulations on a piece of cardstock (the super good kind) and placed it right under there of the clouds where and a bit over the basket that I drew and cut out using my craft knife.  The inside of the card says: "The world is yours to explore take your knowledge and fly.  Congratulations on your graduation, may you prosper in all that you do."

I used the same color paper for the sky as the background for the vellum that I printed the quote on.  I also used a piece of ribbon and tied it in a bow.  I then mounted it to the same orange paper that I used on the front.

Butterfly Birthday Card

I made this card for my sister for her birthday.  I got the butterfly die from one of the latest Scrapbook/card making, etc. convention with was held at the Arlington convention center.  As soon as I saw the die I knew I had to have it so I purchased it and couldn't wait to try it out on a card.  This was one of the first square cards that I made, since I seem to be making cards that are square right now.

Using my Cuttlebug, die and some paper I managed to layout the front no problem.  The butterfly is a lime green color and the background color for the wings is black.  I also used a silver metallic marker/pen to enhance the intricate filigree of the butterfly.  Using some simply black and white paper and then mounted another piece of hot pink to balance out the brightness of the lime green.

On the inside of the card I used a stamp that I got at the same convention I got the butterfly from and attempted, semi-successfully to make a gift card pocket holder.  I had intended to put a gift card in with the card but the days got away from me and I wasn't able to get the gift card to my sister.  Maybe when she comes to visit I can take her on a mini-shopping spree at the local Half-Priced Books for some books that she wouldn't mind reading. I have big plans for this stamp, but I have yet to get to them since it seems like special orders have been coming left and right.  I have yet another couple that I have to make and the days are ticking on me and I'm not really sure where most of the year went for it to soon be back to school and the holiday time!   Craziness I tell you, pure craziness!

Reaching for the Sky Graduation Card

I made this graduation card for a nurse who's nephew was graduating from college.  The card never got to the nurse but I did use some pretty cool things on it.  As for the whole nurse thing, minds out of the gutter, I was in the hospital at the time and she noticed that I made cards as a hobby.  As luck would have it she needed a card and I was more than happy to supply her with one, sadly though it didn't happen but I still have the card just in case.

I used a cloud die that I had been itching to have and I freehand drew the balloon and basket and used floss as the ties that connect the basket to the balloon.  I used earth tones since it was for a male and I doubt they would want anything with pinks and purples in it if you can avoid it.  I of course found a great quote for the inside printed it on vellum and embossed it, then stuck it thru the sticker maker and mounted it to the teal-ish color paper and added a bow using the same ribbon that I used on the outside of the card.  I stamped Congratulations on a piece of white card stock that I got from one of the conventions I went to, great paper, and matched the ink on the outside to match that of the teal paper on the inside.

D. Villains: Ursula

I used my Silly for this and a lot and I mean a lot of time sizing and cutting this image for a card.  Once finished though, I had no real idea of what sort of card to make this into.  Get well soon?  Halloween?  It has gone into blank card pile to be used for a later date and time.  I do so love this card front but I just haven't found the right sentiment for this card, at least not yet.

I'm hopeful to get all of the Disney Women Villains

Oh Baby! More baby cards.........

More onesie baby cards.  Enough said.

Pinwheels of Sentiments

It's been quite the time inbetween updates.  Never fear for I have some new cards to post and plenty of gossip to talk about.  And there is plenty to talk about......trust me I know.  I've been in the trenches and bot it is a harsh trench it is.

Anyhow, here are a couple of cards that I made way back in the day and have no idea what the insides of the cards say since it was that long ago.  Hence the Pinwheels of sentiments.  I'm pretty sure that I had planned to post a lot sooner than I am now but that isn't neither here or there.  Oh boy, it sounds like I'm talking like Dr. Suess, jeez that can't be a good sign.

So I used my Mother's Day card for these cards and speaking of that, I have some mothers to make some cards for,  Man how the time flys.  Anyway, back to the cards.  I used the cricut cart and then just cut the leaf design out over and over and over again until I was happy with size and pedal number, punched a circle and moved on to the next part stamping.  I had been trying to do more of it but boy is it hard to do.  A lot more involved that I thought it would be.

Gooey Monsters

So working on a card for my niece I came across a dingbat font that had monsters as the letters.  I found this guy and started manipulating it to be the right size and getting the layers to show up the right way.  I think found another font for the Boo! and used that along with Arial as the black letters.

Simple as that.....

Halloween Cards

Halloween!  My most favorite holiday of the year, Dia de Los Muertos being the second favorite.  So I had started out thinking that I would make a card for my niece since she hasn't been doing all that great with her treatment but it turned out to be so much more.  I started with the cut files that I got when I found some freebies on Letter Delights website.  From there I spent way too much time trying to figure out the right size so that it would cut and not rip the paper or better yet not cut at all.

The first photo is of the card that I am sending niece, the second was supposed to go to my other niece but I decided to keep it and make her something else.  The last one I used a cut from the baby cards that I made and then adding a spider ontop of the onsies.  I may send this card to her, it's not like she will take notice anyway since Paige is 2, not exactly an age that is known for them remembering things.

Baby Time!

As you can see I have been in a baby making card mood.  I had this idea and it ran off and became something much  larger than I had thought it would be.  So what was the idea that had me in a fight?  Clothes pins, mini clothes pins.  I saw these mini clothes pin at the scrapbook conventiton that I went to this summer.  I saw them and immediately knew that I had to get them and make a card with them.  This card is probably going to require special postage but I think it is well worth the money.

Texas........Big Sky Country Stationary Set

I think out of all my cards that I have recently posted this one is a favorite.  Living in Texas you find out that people are Texas bred and Texas proud.  This card is part a set of cards that I made for a stantionary set.  I have 11 cards and one box that I am going to decorate using some paint and some other things.

I have a few other states that I am going to try my hand at but if they don't work out the stanionary kit will be a Texas set of cards.

To make this I had to sort through a dingbat font and then I used my Silly to cut the shape in red, white and blue and then adding a star.  It actually isn't a hard project it just takes some time to make sure that you get the cuts correct since you don't want the flag to be incorrect which it can be if you don't pay attention.

So what I did was cut out red, white and blue texas shapes from there I used a ruler and craft knife to cut up the shapes.  From there I mounted everything to the white background and then added a star in the blue section as there is supposed to be.  I had a hard time trying to decide if I wanted the star to but shaped like the state or if I wanted it to look as it does above.  I picked option B and I must say it looks pretty darn awesome!

Now to move onto the box to put thsese in.

Hexagonal Peacock Woman

Here is one of my cards using the Mica paints that I have fallen in love with.  The paper is from a stack I got at Hobby Lobby and the stamp is from Stampland, from the stamp convention.  I first cut out the hexagons, which I got from my library on the Silly then I stamped the woman on it after laying out the hexagons.  From thiere I just painted over the stamped woman and let it dry.  I was going to emboss it but at the time I didn't have any baby wipes to clean the stamp with.  I have them now and I just haven had the chance to do the stamping again.

Merry and Bright

Here is the first Christmas card of the season for me.  I have loved this stamp so much that I am simply itching to paint it with different colors.

Vampire Snow White

As you can see I've made Snow White look like a vampire.  I thought it was a perfect mood setter for this Halloween.  Instead of an apple I put a bat although I could have used the apple but I decided not to.  I backed this card with some Martha Stewart Halloween paper which was tombstones.

I'm getting better with the lettering delight cuts and using my Silly.  Now if I could just figure out how to use SVG cuts on my machine.  I think it may be a buy the software either way just one was is different than the other.  Just not sure what to think on a whole about that.

I do so love Snow White....and her face was white as snow.

Halloween Kyoto Kutie #2

This is the second version of my Kyoto Kutie that I did for Halloween.  I used my Silly of course to do all the cutting for me, but I found this nice background image in my massive amount of cuts that I have for my Silly.  The inside is basic though since the front is so involved.  As you can see I put a spider web on the bun this time, I think it looks cool but I could see it looking like a hair net as well.....

Here's the inside of the card.

I just loved the paper that I used on the first card that I used it on the second card as another background and as the kimono for the Kutie to wear.  Now what to make on a rainy Saturday afternoon while football is on?

Kyoto Kuties

Before

So I have recently become obessed with the web sites Under a Cherry Tree and Lettering Delights.  On there I have found many a cutie files that are so not me.  Anyway, this is one of the products of said websites.  Kyoto Kuties was a free down load from Under a Cherry Tree and I couldn't help but to make one of them before moving on to personalizing thing buggers....they will so not be the Kuties that they started out to be.

After

I made this a Halloween based Kutie, I wanted to use a different paper in the background but I thought the bat main section limited my choices.  I know next time to use something else and also use spiderweb in the hair.

Get Well Soon Princess

So here's the card that I made my other niece since she hasn't been feeling all that well lately so I thought I would send her a card along with her sister's so that she would get a smile out of it.  It's another princess this time Tiana, had to look that one up since I couldn't remember it off the top of my head.  I do remember Madelyn wearing this same outfit in one of the photos from Disney.

I promised Madelyn a card with pink and purple, I wasn't too sucessful on the purple but I got the pink and I know she'll like the princess.

Cut from Lettering Delights, font from dafont.com.

Happy Birthday Paige!

What is there to say about this cute little, okay not so little card that I made for my niece for her birthday?  Not much besides, isn't it cute?!  I picked this little princess up at Lettering Delights, and got a whole collection of Princesses which I can now play with, I must say that Snow White was by far my favorite.  So I went with that for a birthday card front.  She had an apple in which she was holding but I changed that to a number 2 instead since it is a her 2nd birthday.  I got the font of course from dafont.com fitting for a Disney themed birthday card.  Now to make another one for the other niece, can't have one get something without the other.  Who to make, who to make?

It will be late but it was made with lots and lots of lub (love)  Happy Birthday Paige!

Witches Brew Halloween Card

It's the most wonderful time of the year, now most would think that it is winter and Christmas but I would have to disagree with them.  Fall is the most wonderful time of the year, it's that time of the year where summer has ended and College Footbal begins and Halloween time is here!  Two of my most favorite things in the world.

Now with that statement being shared I made this card with the thought of a shop store front on Diagon Alley in the Harry Potter books, I think I did a pretty good job but there are some thing I think I might change if I try this card again.  Overall an awesome Halloween card.

Now off to make a birthday card for Paige.

Dancing to say Hello Card

I made this card fror my Gram and I thought it was pretty neat how it turned out.  Must better than planned that is for sure.  I've used my new technique of running cut through the Xyron and then putting glitter on aftewards.

Jeez!  I'm kind of hungry....
