Bon Voyage

I made this card for a co-worker of mine that is leaving. She got herself a job working at the library at UNT, where I graduated from.

The card took quite a bit to make since it is a new card style for me. I usually am just a fold over kind of girl but I have some sort of scoring tool that allows you to make cards like this. The problem though is that I'm not smart enough to figure out how to make a card using the scoring tool. Instead I used my handy-dandy ruler and bone folder to make the card and I must say after a few tries I finally got it right. It isn't very large being 4x4 but I think there is plenty of space for people to sign and such, since I was designated to make the going away card for her. No problem at all, I may just need to try and make this at a different size and see if I can do other things with it. Maybe a Christmas card for Gram is in order using this method.

**Update -- Sadly I was out of commision to give the card, so now I have started a section in my completed card box for going away type cards. **

Asian Greeting Card

For this greeting card I used my Cricut and the Pagoda cartridge. I just love that cartridge, so many good images on it that you can't help but to make cards with it.

The "I just want to say Hello" is from some song that has played on my Pandora.com channel a few times, as well as the commercials for the show "The New Girl". I have no idea who the song is sung by but it has gotten stuck in my brain for the last few days now. I just want to say hello.....

French Inspired Thank You Card

Here is a thank you card that took a few mis-starts to get. It is going to an amazing woman, who is kind enough and cares enough to go and help out my Gram. She's 89 and needs some help around the house, even though she won't say it. But Sue goes over there sometimes it sounds like on a daily basis and makes sure that things are okay for Gram.

It took a couple of different card designs before I settled on this. I saw the image of the 19th century woman that looked to be wearing some sort of french design for clothing. They are after all the place to get clothing back in the day. I saw the image on a piece of paper I had and knew that was what I wanted to go with. I was able to use the whole sheet of paper, that the image came on and I think that my tri-fold card turned out pretty darn well considring it's the first of my making some attempts at it.

I used my Cricut to cut out the Thank You on the inside of the card since it has such a nice look to it. I was tempted to use merci, but I thought a simple Thank You would be enough, and not too theme-y.

Quote of the Day

Okay, so I have this odd little daily calendar that talks about vampires. Yeah, yeah....I'm a vampire nerd but this is classic stuff. They have quotes and information about different types of vampires and the Hunger and stuff like that. Well yesterday was the most perfect quote for my soul sister at work the quote was.....

"False Vampires -- The Falsely Awakened (Part 1)
These are individuals who do not possess a vampiric spirit or its Hunger but nonetheless begin to experience certain physical symptoms of the Hunger. Though these people have not been fed upon, they are often, not coincidentally, related to vampires or descended from known vampiric bloodlines. There are occasions when certain vampiric genetic traits become active in a nonvampiric spirit. The human can experience agonizing pain, physical weakness, mental disorientation, and a number of other symptons. Thanks to the research of the Atlanta Vampire Alliance, we now know that fibromyalgia, a nerve disorder that causes server pain and has no known cause or cure, occurs in disproportionately high numbers among vampires, so it should be no surprise that it is common ailment of the falsely Awakened."

Courtney has fibro and I just couldn't believe that the calendar had something about it. Now granted it isn't true but I thought it was classic, so that is the quote of the day. I wonder what they say about people with Lupus? Maybe I am a falsely Awakened vampire myself? Or maybe it is a gene that tries to turn you? :) The thoughts run wild they do.

Jokes on me....Day 1

Well I joked around with Ma and said that I would create a blog for my pending bunion surgery. Jokes on me though since I'm actually going to do it, I figure I can be a nut too. I need to photo my foot on the pre-surgery but that can wait. I got a couple of days.

I've figured out that I tend not to do much since I'm in so much pain by the end of the day. Hopefully though my journal won't be too much to keep up with since I'm spent by the end of the day.

I have a bunch of tasks that I want to work on but not sure if I can manage by myself. Jules will help me though so I'm glad for that.

It's late so I better turn in. Tomorrow a photo of my foot.

Art Nouveau Cricut Cartridge

I just love, love, love the cricut Art Nouveau cartridge. Here are two cards with images from it that I just loved to make. The picture on the left is of a moth and the other is my favorite insect a scarab bettle. I must say that they turned out much better than I had planned.

Birthday up in air

Another card made for the lovely Autism Group, this time it was Mark's birthday which means I had to do a card for a male audience. Talk about tough, lucky thing I had read my latest card magazine and saw this idea in it. I did what I could and I think it turned out wonderfully.

Happy Birthday Mark!

I used only my Silhouette, some American Crafts paper and a printer to make the card. Not bad for me since I tend to over think cards.

Thinking of you.....Madelyn

Here is the card that I made for my oldest niece who is having quite the time it seems. At least Medically....I know the feeling all too well. Hopefully she knows that she is being thought about and prayed for nothing serious to be wrong.

The Ho, ho, holidays.....Part 2

So for this card, I stole the idea from a magazine I had gotten in the mail recently. It was much the same idea that I took and made it mine using my Cricut and my Silhouette. I used some foam dots to give the snowman some added dimension.

The Ho, ho, holidays.....

This was a sample card that I made for my mother to take to work. The card has yet to make it to her work but it was the start of the holiday season for me.

The orange paper was to be used for my mother's birthday card, but with the ongoing sickness I've been in, the card wasn't to be. Maybe next year.

It's a Girl!

This card went out to a friend of my mother's who is having a baby girl. No names decided yet but the parents-to-be couldn't deserve it more. Congrats Wade and Jodi!

I thought a onesie would be very appropriate for the coming fun the pair is in for.

Birthday Card for "Autism Crew"

I so totally forgot how awesome this card was. Still loving it that is for sure and with the sketch pens in white it makes for an easy time for me and using white ink on black paper. That's the problem with having Black as your favorite color, the only thing you can really see is the white or some other super light color to show up on anything black. Dog hair it seems can be excluded from that since I am forever being told about the dog hairs on my black pants, then again most of my dogs have iether white or gray hairs, just perfect for showing up on pant legs and such.

I used my Martha Stewart Scoring Board to make the folded type of card. They call it a gate card, and I could so see that. I have a cart that I want to use for this type of card but I have yet got a real chance to look at the "booklet" for the cart to pick out what I want to use.

Dang that's such a neat card!

Halloween Thank You Card

Here is another card that I made for the S.A.M.'s group. That Dee, always getting something that I want more for myself than to give away. Seems I ran out of room on my camera and now my photos of Clay's and David's notecards are gone. I have since emptied the card but the cards are in the mail and I have no way of getting them back. Ah well, just as well, probably seeing them would want me to have those as well.

A pair of cackling ol' wtiches

So it is the month of October! A fav here at my household, always has and always will. Anyway, I thought it was about time to send our lovely S.A.M.s group people more thank you cards, well here are a pair of witches that made it in time for Halloween and for saying 'thank you'. At this point I'm not even sure if I would be able to enter the P.A.C.T. form for the group of them, or just one person individually. They all deserve to be recoginzied, but too may might raise flags or something.

So here are a pair of notecards that have been sent to two of the three women in the group. Now to work on the others, but first it was Lauren's birthday, how many moons ago was that? So I finally got her a card. About time! Another post for that one.

Belated Asian Theme Birthday

This card was made for a co-worker that had a birthday I so totally forgot about. I used some new media with this card and I think it turned out great. Makes me want to go back and purchase more of the media, but I will turn and stick with what I have since I've started a pile of stuff to donate to the local elementary/junior high for art or science projects.

So down to the specifics, I heat embossed the stamp on the front using black embossing power, I just a metallic paint/watercolor pigment to color the Asian birthday. On the inside I used one of my manyy fonts and used boarder scissors to give it that finished look.

A Card Maker's Delight

So the time has come to start creating birthday cards again. Above are two of the three that I have left to make. Boy! September was a busy month, that is for sure! I have no doubte that next month will be worse yet and then *toots horn* Black Friday will decend down upon us and make us and do things we never thought possible. I already have orders rolling in for Christmas so if you want to put an order in, let me know. I'm collecting stuff and should be done once I finish this Halloween card. I do so love this holiday then again I've always been a fan of it.

Well I spent most of my weekend up and making cards, trying to keep the mind busy, you know? A good and a bad thing you know? I saw my most favorite doctor on Friday and she is just too good. I'm so glad I finally found her, I think, if I remember correctly that she was someone I picked out for some reason. I need more test and then we will create the most appropriate plan as soon as possible. But enough about there, I know you all are dieing to see what I made over the weekend, since sleep is hart to get.

Rest was on the agenda but didn't much of that, still don't have much to begin with.

So here are some cards that I have been working on.

One Year and counting

So Paige Olivia Edwards turned the big 1 on September 15th and a great birthday it must have been. With her Daddy home from Japan and her Mommy, Grandmother and sister there it must have been an excellent birthday. I made her a little something since I had to be reminded that she 1 not 11 or older. You tend to forget those sorts of things.

Well I had better continue getting ready for work.

A Hello Kitty Greeting

I thought I would send Madelyn a card to know that she is not forgotten on her sister's birthday,

Welcome Back

We welcome back a fellow employee back from materity leave, and looking good coming back for sure. Welcome Back Jennifer! Sorry I couldn't personally hand it over but know that I made it with plenty of hours of hemming and hawing before coming to this.

Again Welcome Back!

I made with card using both machines so I think it meshed well with things.

Boss' Birthday Greeting

So I thought I wasn't living up to my true potential, so instead of "Tweeting A Birthday Greeting" I made the boss lady another card. Being from the state of Michigan, I'm sure she can enjoy the humor of the Probverb. That Dutch, always a special group they are.

So here's to you boss lady, getting your 10 year dose of PA Duth life, which is almost like their real world up there. So no tweeting here, sorry.

Fairest of Them All Birthday Card

So my ex-boss who has decided that the group she worked with all ended with a Y, so she changed her name to best reflect that she may be no longer with us but she is very much thinking of us "little people" Thanks Shashay! ;)

In honor of that I had created this little bit of fun for her, I always go with the one that one item that strikes me as something that the person would like or is like. So here's my take.....Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all? The reply is Shashay!

Tweeting A Birthday Greeting

So everyone is Tweeting this, and FB'ing that. I thought I would add my spin to that on this birthday card. The cage and bird are from my Silhouette, while the frame is from my Cricut Expression machine and the Fancy Frams cartridge. The words "Tweeting A Birthday Greeting" are cut using my Silhouette again, using the Alice in Wonderland font. I do so love that font!

I made the inside short and sweet, it's a belated birthday card so I didn't want to spend a ton of time on it even though I was chalked full of ideas for this card. The person has requested the colors of green and purple, and I think this worked out quite nicely.

I hope the person enjoys their card, because it was quite fun to make.

Butterflies Birthday Card

Well the card has been given and the hugs have been given. Happy Birthday Lidy-Loo! I made this card for a co-worker and I must say pretty amazing card it is. It's even better in person, I promise! Used my skill of putting the L back together, and made the butterflies with a bit of guess and check and from there it was a clear run-away project. Now to start on another birthday card.....wonder who I could do next?

Craft Room

So I know that you are all chomping at the bit to see what I have done for the past who knows how long with the craft room. It's still a work in progress but so far this is what I have come up with. I obviously need another shelf to house all of the carts but they can wait for now.

A Rockin' Birthday Card

Here is the latest creation. It was Anthony's birthday on the 9th of this month and with my craft room redesign, I wasn't able to get him a card on time. So here is what I made for him. He received a pair of headphones so I went with that theme.

Ssshhh! It's a secret

Well I am to a point in the Craft Room that I can possibly work on a card or two. I've got a list and boy does it seem to be getting longer and longer. I think working on the craft room put me a month behind schedule.

Anyway, that wasn't why I was posting. I'm posting and I'm so hoping that the few that follow this page, don't tell the ProvoCraft People. So there has been plenty of bluster about ProvoCraft's new software, where it is free to use and easy to work with. Well for months, I have been checking and re-checking to see if I could even get into the beta site; only to be told that I didn't have access. Well this morning, I decided to give it a whirl since I was in the process of adding some things to my account. They really should be a delete button or something on of these things. Anway, off topic again.

Well I tried to get into the CraftRoom beta site aaaaaand it worked! I was pretty freaking hype about it and I even got to download I guess the regular version and I even tested out a cut. So much easier than Design studio since that is a nightmare to deal with. It gets the job done but it could take you an hour to figure something out.

So all the wammering about something.

CraftRoom lives! /O\ *hands up and par-tay*

Almost Done!

Well it has been a task and a half trying to get the craft room back to functioning order. I've got my machines where I want them, I've sorted through things and manage to find some items worthy of being sent to the GoodWill and found some things that I thought I lost.

I'm hoping today can be the day that I can get the room in the final working stages.

/O\ Yay! Hands up! I still have aways to go but not much. Figure out my paper woes which started this whole mess along with the desk. Now though, I'm happy with the way things are turning out.

CONspiracy! A C.O.N. spiracy I tell ya'

Well it seems that my plan for the Craft Room has blown up in my face. I thought it would be easy enough to put together the desk that I ordered from Staples, and well I guess I didn't realize how large it actually was, so the thought of just moving a couple of things out of the way so didn't work. I can barely get into the room and that's just no good. How's a girl to make cards when she can't even walk into the room to begin with? I shall continue on though, I think I'm super close right now, but with a bum foot standing for long periods of time is always a bad idea, but good thing I don't have to wear shoes at home. that would have been an issue for sure.

The mother figure wants me to seek care, but I couldn't do that today since I had a project that I had been working on since last week, and I've sent the information hopefully they won't ask too many questions since I did the best I did with the limited amount of access to information.

Hopefully tomorrow I can find some time to sneak on over to Family Practice for them to take a look at my unhappy foot.

So I'm going stir crazy without being able to make cards. I have plenty to make as well! I have a total of 4 cards that I need to make for birthdays and such. I guess I could give some of the people something I already have but I do like to personalize them. Might be why it take me so long to make a card.

Well let me get in the craft room and see if I can get something figured out.

One More Thank You Notecard

I made this notecard just last night with my latest cartridge for Cricut. I must say it turned out pretty darn well considering I had no idea what I was going to do with it. But then I realized I hadn't finished my Thank You notecards to our university's SAMs group, so another one to send to them.

Twins!

One of my mom's co-workers/friend's daughter was blessed enough to have twin boys, a bit before their due date but both are doing fine and one is already home, which the other will be coming on Thursday. Congratulations Lindsey! Now someone is a Grandmother....whatever shall they call you?

Egyptian Card

I had no real reason on why I made this card, but only to play with my Silhouette and see what it can and can't do. Loving it!

My Cup Runneth Over with Gratitude

There are those at work that truly make going to work not so hard. Lidia has been one of those people. A majority of us, couldn't do without the things that she does.

Thank you Lidia!
